Dena Joyner

CEO & Co-Founder
Functional Nutrition Expert | Systems Thinker | Recovery Advocate
Dena Joyner is a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor with additional certifications in macro and functional nutrition. She leads with a clear purpose: to make strategic, science-backed recovery accessible to everyone—from post-op patients to peak performers.

Her path into wellness began through biohacking—a personal pursuit to optimize healthspan, resilience, and performance. What started as curiosity evolved into a calling to close the gaps she saw in both conventional medicine and wellness culture. Dena recognized how often people are left navigating recovery without real guidance—confused by conflicting messages or underserved by reactive care models. That realization led her to focus on what many systems overlook: how inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, and lifestyle stressors shape the body’s ability to heal, adapt, and perform.

Before launching OutRecover, Dena built a successful career in digital marketing, sharpening her systems thinking, data fluency, and strategic mindset. She later created a concierge wellness program centered on personalized nutrition and orthopedic recovery—giving her hands-on insight into what clients truly need during rehabilitation and beyond.

Today, Dena brings together her clinical training and strategic expertise to create recovery protocols that are both compassionate and data-driven. She believes recovery isn’t just about getting back to baseline—it’s about building a stronger, more resilient foundation for how we live, move, and age.

Her leadership is helping redefine recovery not as a last step, but a performance edge.

Dr. Patrick Joyner

Medical Director & Co-Founder
Orthopedic Surgeon | Sports Medicine Leader | Recovery Visionary
Dr. Patrick Joyner is a double board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine and more than 15 years of experience caring for high-performance individuals—from professional athletes to elite military teams. His approach to recovery and performance is rooted in precision, strategy, and a deep respect for what the human body is capable of when given the right tools.

A Naples native, Patrick’s academic path took him from UNC Pembroke, where he was a collegiate wrestler, to the University of Florida for his master’s degree in Microbiology, and then to Penn State College of Medicine, where he graduated at the top of his class. He completed his residency at Duke University, one of the nation’s top orthopedic programs, and went on to train under Dr. James Andrews—treating athletes from the NFL, MLB, and SEC. During his service in the U.S. Navy, Patrick served as head team physician for Navy SEAL Teams Two and Four. After his military tenure, he continued to care for Olympic hopefuls, collegiate athletes and pros competing at the highest levels.

It was in those environments—where recovery wasn’t an afterthought, but a mission-critical strategy—that Patrick saw the power of advanced, integrated protocols firsthand. But he also saw the gap: outside of elite circles, this level of care was rare or completely out of reach. That realization sparked the idea for OutRecover. Together with his wife and co-founder, Dena Joyner, he set out to build a space where more people could access the same caliber of recovery care as the pros—delivered with both precision and heart.

Today, Patrick continues to serve as volunteer team physician for national athletic organizations like USA Boxing and Gymnastics, teach orthopedic surgeons across the country, and lead the medical direction of OutRecover. His goal is simple: to help people heal smarter, move better, and live stronger—at every stage of life.

Dr. Joyner is helping redefine recovery as a performance advantage—because everyone deserves to feel, move, and live like an athlete.

Let’s redefine what recovery means—together.
